JQL File Complications
Issues Opening JQL Files
Missing Unknown Software
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open JQL Files" when trying to open your JQL. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Unknown Software isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your JQL, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Unknown Software Requires Update
In other instances, your Uncommon File Extension file version may not be supported by your version of Unknown Software. Installing the latest version of Unknown Software from Unknown Developer is recommended. This problem is predominately due to having a Uncommon File Extension file version that was created by a newer version of Unknown Software than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your JQL file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the JQL file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unknown Software installed.
Other Causes of JQL File Opening Problems
Even with the correct version of Unknown Software installed, you can still experience difficulties opening JQLs. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening JQLs. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry JQL file paths that are incorrect
- Corruption of the JQL file description inside the Registry
- Corrupt install of Unknown Software or other JQL-related program
- JQL file corruption
- The JQL is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with JQL has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Uncommon File Extension file
